Colby-Sawyer College Students to Present Student-Produced Musical 'Weekend Warrior'

NEW LONDON, N.H. - Colby-Sawyer College will host the student-written and produced musical, Weekend Warrior, for one night only on Saturday, March 24, at 8 p.m. in Wheeler Hall at Ware Campus Center, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend and admission is free. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Colby-Sawyer College Playwrights organization. This play is inappropriate for young children.

The show is defined by its founders as “an impromptu modern masterpiece that embodies the humor, language and personality of college students.” The collaboration reflects the nature of Colby-Sawyer's liberal arts education; students of all ages, talents and passions have combined their work to create something entirely unique. The show was created by a five-man production team made up of Colby-Sawyer students Joseph Delaney, Travis Carlson, Josh Hardy, John Clarke and Cory Schofield.

Producer Joe Delaney says that the show not only satirizes college stereotypes but also encompasses the theme of accepting personal faults and living to one's greatest potential. The musical features 13 eclectic and jazzy original songs composed by Director of Music and pianist Cory Schofield, drawing on such modern influences as Avenue Q, Putnam County Spelling Bee and Wicked, among others.
