Emergency Alerts & Communication

CSC ALERT — Emergency Notification System  

CSC ALERT is Colby-Sawyer College's “opt-in” emergency notification system, designed to provide timely information during emergencies and other situations that may impact campus operations. To learn more and sign up, go to the Emergency Alert System webpage.  

What to expect:  

  • Immediate alerts with safety instructions. 

  • Multichannel delivery to reach campus community members. 

  • Messages about evacuations, lockdown, shelter-in-place or campus status.  

 

Emergency Response & Evacuation Procedures  

Colby-Sawyer College is proactive in planning and preparing for emergencies. The college's Emergency Preparedness Guide  provides response procedures for a variety of situations, including:   

  • Fire and building evacuation plans   

  • Shelter-in-place instructions   

  • Active shooter/hostile intruder response   

  • Bomb threat guidance   

  • Power outage, hazardous spill and other incidents

What to Do in an Emergency 

 Ready-to-use action guidance for common emergencies:  

  • Shelter-in-Place — Go to an interior room with few windows and follow instructions until authorities respond.   

  • Bomb Threat — Do not handle suspicious objects; evacuate and notify Campus Safety.   

  • Severe Weather — Follow sheltering instructions and stay tuned to alerts.  

  • Winter Weather — Follow instructions as issued and stay tuned to alerts.
