Rape and Domestic Violence Education Initiative
Rape and Domestic Violence Education Initiative at Colby-Sawyer is dedicated to reducing the risk of sexual assault and domestic violence in the campus community. Our role in reducing the affects of sexual assault and domestic violence is multi-faceted. Our efforts include working to increase campus safety, broadening public awareness about the nature of rape and domestic violence, the impact of these assaults on men and woman, as well as mitigating the trauma to survivors.
Educational programs tailored to meet the needs of the individual audiences includes films, discussion groups, lectures, role plays, and communication exercises on subjects such as acquaintance rape education and prevention, personal safety and prevention techniques, stalking, mixed messages and communicating in dating. Examples of resent programming stemming from this initiative include the KidCare Photo Identification System and the Clothesline Project.
