Daily Crime Log
The Colby-Sawyer College Department of Campus Safety maintains a written, easily understood daily crime log that records, by the date reported, all crimes reported to Campus Safety that occurred within the college’s Clery geography.
The daily crime log includes the nature of the crime, the date and time the crime occurred, the general location of the crime and the disposition of the complaint, if known. An entry or an addition to an entry is made within two business days after the information is reported to Campus Safety unless disclosure is prohibited by law or would jeopardize the confidentiality of a victim.
Information may be temporarily withheld when there is clear and convincing evidence that its release would:
- Jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation.
- Jeopardize the safety of an individual.
- Cause a suspect to flee or evade detection.
- Result in the destruction of evidence.
Only information that would cause one of these adverse effects may be withheld. Information temporarily withheld will be disclosed once the adverse effect is no longer likely to occur.
The daily crime log for the most recent 60-day period is available for public inspection during normal business hours. Any portion of the log older than 60 days will be made available within two business days of a request for public inspection.
