Chemistry Minor

The chemistry minor offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the chemical sciences without the extensive commitment of a major. This minor includes core courses that cover the fundamental topics of organic, inorganic, environmental, and biochemistry, providing a well-rounded foundation in the field. Students will explore the principles that govern chemical reactions, molecular structure, and the behavior of matter in various environments. The coursework is designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and laboratory skills, essential for students pursuing careers or advanced studies in fields like medicine, exercise science, environmental science, or biotechnology.

The Chemistry minor complements a wide range of disciplines by equipping students with a strong scientific background. For example, it enhances the skill sets of those majoring in biology, environmental science, or even business, offering a valuable interdisciplinary perspective. Through hands-on laboratory experiences, students gain practical knowledge in conducting experiments, analyzing data, and utilizing scientific instrumentation.

Moreover, a Chemistry minor can make graduates more competitive in the job market, as the analytical skills and scientific literacy gained are highly sought after in both research and industry settings. Whether aspiring to work in a lab, a healthcare setting, or a private company, a Chemistry minor provides a versatile and valuable educational foundation.
