Campus Resources & Tutorials
At Colby-Sawyer College, students have access to a wide variety of resources to enrich their college experience. While they are all fairly user-friendly, you may have some questions as you start out. The tutorials below may help as you begin to navigate these programs and campus resources.
Office 365 Student Email
When you're admitted to the college, you will get a Microsoft Outlook email account. Your college email account is how you'll get all important college communications, so it is important to check your email daily so you don't miss out on any important updates.
To log in to your email, access Outlook 365 here.
The format for student emails is firstname.lastname@my.colby-sawyer.edu.
To set up your Outlook account, follow the steps in this tutorial.
PowerCampus Self-Service
PowerCampus Self-Service is a program that we use for course registration, finances, grade transcripts and more.
To access PowerCampus while on campus, you must be connected to the Internal-CSC wireless internet network.
-
The link to PowerCampus is Self-Service - Sign In (colby-sawyer.edu)
-
To login to PowerCampus, your username is typically firstname.lastname and your password is the same as your network password.
While in PowerCampus, there are various tabs that you will frequently use as a Colby-Sawyer student, including:
Register
The Registration tab is where students will access everything they need to know for course registration. By clicking on Courses, you will be able to access the course registration area when it is time to register.
Schedule
In the Registration tab, students can choose My Schedule to view their current classes, along with information about class times, professors, credit amounts and more.
Finances
In the Finances tab, you can choose Balance to view your charges and credits for each semester or pay your tuition bills through the Make a Payment link.
Grades
The Grades tab allows you to view your Unofficial Transcript and your midterm and final Grade Report.
Search
In the Search tab, students can view the current Course Catalogs and use the Section Search to find courses for registration and add them to cart.
Moodle
Moodle is one of our most-used resources on campus. This site houses all of your classes for the semester and allows you to view and submit your assignments online.
- To learn more about how to use Moodle and other systems, visit the Student Guide to Moodle & Other Systems.
- The link to the CSC Moodle is https://mymoodle.colby-sawyer.edu/login/index.php
- To log in to Moodle, your username is firstname.lastname and your password is the same as your email password.
ACCESSING YOUR COURSES ON MOODLE
When you log in to your Moodle account, it will open up to a main welcome dashboard. From this site, click on My Courses to proceed to your primary course dashboard.
Once you are in the courses area, all of the classes that you are enrolled in will appear in a list. Additionally, on the left side of the screen is a calendar for the current month. In the calendar, you can hover over dates that are shaded orange to see a list of assignments due on that date. On the right side of the page, a timeline of assignments with their corresponding due dates will also be present. To enter the Moodle site for a specific course, simply click on the corresponding box on this dashboard.
NAVIGATING THE MOODLE SITE
Once you are on the Moodle site for a specific class, there is a bit of creative freedom. Some professors put more content onto their Moodle pages than others, but the general format of the site is a list of the weeks in the semester with content organized within each week. In these sites, assignments can be submitted virtually. Any item with this symbol ( ) indicates an assignment to be turned in. There also may be quizzes, attached PDF files, Word documents and other files in the Moodle site that you can click on and download as needed.
SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENTS
Once you click on the assignment item from the Moodle site, it will open a submission page, which will provide all the information about the assignment, including the due date of the assignment, and will allow you to turn in your file digitally. Click Add Submission and then Choose File. From here, you can upload various types of files from your computer. Once you find the right one, click Upload this File and then Save Changes to submit your document. Once you submit the document, a green line will appear and be labeled "submitted" on the assignment page. The document will be sent to your professor, as indicated by a submission confirmation email that will be sent to you immediately after submitting your work.
ACCESSING GRADES THROUGH MOODLE
Usually, when your work is graded, you will receive an email indicating that your professor has given feedback for your assignment. In this email, you can follow the link to the direct submission page, and the grade and any additional comments will be present on the assignment page itself. Additionally, to check the grade book for any class, click Menu on the far left, and then choose a class and choose Grades from the list to view the grade book for that course.
Laptop Printing
Laptop printing allows users to print from a web browser on their own laptops. Laptops must be connected to the "Colby-Internal" WiFi network.
Point your web browser to PaperCut User Login
To login to PaperCut, your username is firstname.lastname and your password is the same as your email password.
Once you've logged in to PaperCut, there are a few options for printing. To print wirelessly to various locations on campus, choose Web Print. Once in Web Print, choose Submit a Job, choose a location from the list, and choose Print Options and Account Selection. Then, type in how many copies you need, and continue to Upload Documents. Then, choose your document for printing from your computer and upload it. Once the document is uploaded, choose Upload & Complete and you're ready to pick up your document!
Visit this site for more about accessing and using PaperCut.
