“We’re proud to provide an affordable and accessible education that helps BCC students reach their goals while also addressing the critical need for skilled professionals in the healthcare workforce,” said Valerie Leclair, vice president for enrollment management and marketing.
“He has a record of extensive service leadership on campus," said Hilary Williams of Cahoon, who developed the college's data science minor.
Scholarships of up to $10,000 will be awarded to people demonstrating academic excellence and financial need. Most ABSN students and graduates live within 25 miles of campus. Many are first-generation college students and nearly 70% are from rural communities. Eighty percent are women and 2% are veterans.
“It’s terrific to be recognized in this way, as we have worked hard to design and grow a smaller, student-centered program to be a great fit for different types of learners,” said Kate Turcotte, who developed and directs the MSW program.
“We are proud to recognize our colleagues for their scholarly accomplishments, outstanding teaching and meaningful service to the college," said Laura A. Sykes '98, interim president. "Their contributions continue to shape the transformative education we offer our students and strengthen the future of our institution."
A total of 272 students from 12 countries and 16 states achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or better.
This moment is not just about looking back. It is about asking ourselves what comes next. How will we use what we have learned and who we have become to make a difference? How will we continue to create a world where everyone belongs?
“Much like Colby-Sawyer College promises transformative education and vocational exploration for students, it has provided me with transformative career opportunities and experiences — enabling me to develop my sense of purpose as well as close friendships and working relationships,” said Hilary Williams.
"Putting down your phone, taking out your earbuds. Remaining in the moment. These are the keys to taking advantage of the gift that we have to be alive, to be with our friends and family, to be thankful and grateful for what we have done."
