“This remarkable gift [from the Niblacks] opens doors for aspiring nurses who might otherwise be unable to pursue their calling,” said Peter White, dean of the School of Nursing & Health Sciences. “This generosity strengthens not only our students, but also the health and vitality of the regions they will serve.” 

"I am so grateful to take part in this program and work toward a career that allows me to help others and leave a positive impact on this world," said the junior who minors in performing arts.

It was the right fit at the right time, and it prepared me to positively impact learners, teams and patient care through intentional, evidence-based education.

“Their [Ethan Casson and Amanda Chin] willingness to invest in our community elevates this program and provides our students with invaluable examples of leadership, resilience and career readiness,” said Director of Athletics Jeanette McKillop.

“Being able to utilize my skills from my previous degree, even with this switch in career, has been great for me to hone my creativity,” said Kathryn Quinn. “Colgate is the first place I went when I visited campus after being accepted into the ABSN program.” 

The event educates students about the importance of giving back and creates positive and lasting change in communities, said Professor Jon Keenan. “An empty bowl symbolizes the reality that too many people are unable to put food on the table or fill their bowls.” 

“What makes this program stand out is the personal connection our faculty build with students,” said Turcotte. “We’ve designed the curriculum to balance flexibility with academic rigor, so that students can engage deeply."
