'Tis the season ... for the holiday card student art contest
Marketing & Communications

The leaves are turning orange, yellow and red, and soon a blanket of white will cover the campus — which means it’s time for the annual Holiday Card Art Contest.

This year, all Colby-Sawyer students — undergraduate and graduate, pursuing any major or degree — are invited to submit artwork to be on the covers of Colby-Sawyer's official 2025 holiday cards.

Two winners will be chosen:

  • One for the President’s Office card

  • One for the Advancement Office card

Each winner will receive a $100 gift card!

The cards extend peace and joy to Colby-Sawyer's friends around the world –— who have a variety of faiths and traditions. Because recipients may celebrate Hanukkah, winter solstice, Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, the new year and more, we're looking for cover art that embraces the beauty of Colby-Sawyer and the season.

The art can be your graphic design, photograph, drawing, painting, calligraphy, collage, fiber art, sculpture...you get the picture. The only rule: no AI-generated or AI-enhanced work.

Deadline: Sunday, Nov. 2, 11:59 p.m.

Submit your artwork here with the title, medium and a brief artist statement, as well as your name, hometown, expected graduation year and major/degree.

File Specifications: Sizing for this card should be 5 x 7 inches. For physical artwork: A high-resolution scanned or photographed image (JPG). The print center in CAD 101 can assist you with scanning your image if it is 8.5 x 11 inches or smaller. For digital artwork: Set your color mode for print and your resolution to high (300 ppi). Export your design as either a PNG or JPG, depending on the content.

Last year’s winners were Isabell Macrina ’25 and Maggie Morse ’26. This year, it could be you! We look forward to seeing all the creative entries.
