Golden State Warriors VP will discuss leadership 'Beyond the Game'
Beth Staples

Amanda Chin, senior vice president of marketing for the Golden State Warriors, will be the featured guest at Colby-Sawyer's third Beyond the Game event at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Clements Hall.

Beyond the Game is the brainchild of Colby-Sawyer alum Ethan Casson ’96, president of the Dallas Mavericks. He launched the speaker series a year ago at his alma mater so Charger student-athletes could learn from innovators and visionaries.

Chin is both. Adweek named her a 2025 Sports Marketing MVP for being a trailblazer who reshapes how sports and marketing intersect and for redefining the sports marketing landscape.

And in 2024, she was named to Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list — an annual celebration of the best young talent in sports business. She oversees Golden State’s marketing strategy and integrated brand campaigns and leads marketing operations, social media, creative services and game entertainment teams.

Chin, who earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and marketing communications at the State University of New York, Fashion Institute of Technology, will provide insights about leadership, career growth and the value of having the mindset of an athlete in professional environments.

The event is open to Colby-Sawyer students, staff and faculty.

Director of Athletics Jeanette McKillop said she’s grateful that Casson and Chin will share their experiences and perspectives with student-athletes and the larger campus.

“Their willingness to invest in our community elevates this program and provides our students with invaluable examples of leadership, resilience and career readiness,” she said.

Beyond the Game is an essential part of our department mission to empower student-athletes to grow as competitors and as confident leaders prepared for life well beyond their playing careers.”

Last fall, Casson kicked off the series, and in April, Boston Celtics President Rich Gotham was the featured guest.

Beyond the Game, which is held once a semester, focuses on career readiness, personal development and practical skills. Discussions are intended to empower student-athletes to leverage the lessons of their athletic experience to thrive in any career or life path.

Casson earned a Bachelor of Science in sport management at Colby-Sawyer, where he was a standout basketball player. He was inducted into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Before becoming president of the Mavs, Casson was CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer for the San Francisco 49ers.
