Colby-Sawyer College’s Bachelor of Science program in nursing earned a #4 state ranking by leading nursing education resource RNCareers.org, recognizing it as “one of the best nursing schools in New Hampshire” with a “nationally recognized educational program for nurses.”
"Colby-Sawyer College has long been recognized for its commitment to excellence in nursing education,” RNCareers.org publisher Jeff Morrow said in a press release issued by the organization. “The institution's rigorous curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated faculty ensure that nursing students receive the highest quality education and training in New Hampshire and the nation.”
In developing their ranking, RNCareers.org, an independently managed resource staffed by a team of nurse educators, nurse practitioners, RNs and LPNs, considered factors such as accreditation, cost, academic excellence, faculty qualifications, student satisfaction, program offerings, career outcomes and reputation. They developed their merit-based rankings following a review of more than 1,700 nursing schools.
“The nursing faculty at Colby-Sawyer are among the most talented, knowledgeable and committed teams you'll find,” School of Nursing & Health Sciences Dean Peter White said. “From the theoretical to the clinical, they prepare prospective nurses for success and provide current nurses the opportunity to advance their professional goals through a variety of specialized graduate degree programs.”
The Colby-Sawyer Bachelor of Science program with a major in nursing combines clinical work at the world-class Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, with hands-on learning in campus classrooms and laboratories. The Janet Udall Schaefer ’52 Center for Health Sciences, which opened in fall 2024, is the new home to the School of Nursing & Health Sciences and features a state-of-the-art four room simulation center; three medical exam rooms and a nurses’ station that simulates today’s clinical environment; a spacious, fully equipped 12-bed skills lab; and two anatomy and physiology labs with cutting-edge technology for analysis, imagery and exploration.
In addition to the traditional bachelor’s-level nursing program, Colby-Sawyer offers BS completion programs for students who hold an RN, RT or AS in health studies; an accelerated BS in nursing; Master of Science in Nursing programs with clinical nurse leader, nursing education, and nursing management tracks; post-master’s nursing certificates; and a Doctor of Nursing Practice.
“[Colby-Sawyer’s] graduates are well-prepared to make significant contributions to the healthcare profession,” Morrow said. “This recognition by RNCareers.org underscores [the college’s] unwavering dedication to preparing its students for successful careers in the healthcare profession."
