Exploring AI at CSC — Clements Hall, Ivey Science Center
A panel of administrators, faculty and students will discuss how Colby-Sawyer is grappling with and learning about integrating AI into our campus culture, educational offerings and operations. They’ll also talk about the importance of preparing students to work meaningfully in a world with AI and about developing practices for the college that leverage technology to center human connections.

Join us during the Homecoming & Family Weekend Welcome Reception for the official opening of a special exhibition celebrating the art of six female artists who majored in studio art at Colby-Sawyer between 2002 and 2022: Ayumi Endo ’02, Kristen Pobatshnig ’06, Stacy Hannings ’14, Katherine Gardener ’15, Lauren Morrocco ’17 and Zoe Parys ’22.

StarWound: A Collaboration of Music and PoetrySawyer Center Theater 
Sophisti-pop trio StarWound collaborates with Professor Ewa Chrusciel and students for this unique performance. Chrusciel’s poem will be incorporated into the concert. Students also will read their poems on stage, while the Greece-based band plays music influenced by the poems.

Explore Colby-Sawyer’s state-of-the-art facility for academic and clinical training. Home of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, the building features a simulation center, anatomy and physiology laboratories, conference rooms and workspaces, and Victor’s Corner Café for the entire campus community to enjoy.

Ceramic WorkshopDeborah L. Coffin ’76 Family Ceramics Studio in Memory of David Coffin Jr. ’75, Davidow Center for Art + Design 
Led by Professors Jon Keenan and Terita Heath-Wlaz, this hands-on workshop will focus on current and age-old approaches to working in clay. Participants will focus on hand building techniques, including pinch, slab, coil, kurinuki and combined processes. This engaging workshop will include discussions and demonstrations and will encourage creativity and experimentation. Open to all levels. Space limited; preregistration required.

The United States and Iran: Navigating the Politics and Proxies of the Islamic Republic Clements Hall, Ivey Science Center  
Since the Iranian Revolution of 1979 swept a pro-U.S. regime from power and installed a theocratic system, relations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran have been characterized by mistrust, apprehension and violence. Professor Eric Boyer will offer an overview of the Iranian regime, exploring how its domestic political situation, regional position as the main Shiite power in the Middle East, and support for regional proxies shape the U.S.-Iran relationship.

Mandala Dot Painting WorkshopSally Shaw Veitch ’66 Sculpture Studio, Davidow Center for Art + Design 
Join instructor Kristen Pobatschnig ’06 and discover the calming and creative practice of mandala art in this relaxed, hands-on workshop. Used for centuries across many cultures as a meditative expression, mandalas offer a beautiful way to slow down and connect with your creativity. Participants will begin by learning basic dotting patterns on a practice sheet before moving on to decorate a glass ornament with their own unique design. Open to all ages and experience levels. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. All materials provided. Space is limited; preregistration required.
