Sexual Assault & Harassment Programs

A sexual harassment prevention program that includes definition of terms, vignettes outlining continuum from positive interactions to assault, and intervention techniques.
This program is approximately 90 minutes.

This interactive program reviews the spectrum of relationship behaviors and, through audience participation and discussion, the line between healthy and unhealthy relationships. Participants will identify warning signs of dating violence and learn strategies for intervention. This program is approximately 60 minutes.

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) provides women the opportunity to learn self-defense strategies and techniques in a friendly supportive atmosphere, allowing them to participate at will and at their own pace. The course consists of four sessions, each three hours long, for a total of twelve hours. The first nine hours of the course are required to be considered a graduate. The last session is full contact simulation where confidence from previous instruction is gained through practical application. The course is taught by RAD certified instructors and a minimal registration fee is charged. The fee includes all materials and a lifetime "return and practice free" policy honored at any RAD program in the U.S. or Canada. RAD systems is a nationally recognized program based in Poquoson, Virginia with over one thousand instructors at various colleges, universities and police departments in the U.S. and Canada. Facilitated by Campus Safety.

In the uplifting and multiple award-winning documentary, Searching for Angela Shelton, filmmaker Angela Shelton drives around the United States surveying other Angela Sheltons. She discovers that 70% of the Angela Sheltons she speaks to are survivors of rape, childhood sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. Angela Shelton's survey of women becomes a journey of self-discovery during which she decides to finally confront her own past and her abusive father – on Father's Day.

Through the showing of the powerful film, "Spin the Bottle: Sex, Lies and Alcohol" with Jackson Katz and Jean Kilbourne, presenters will reframe misperceptions about alcohol use on college campuses and explain the differing effects of alcohol on women and men. In addition, participants will examine the role of alcohol in sexual assault, the meaning of consent, and how incapacitation nullifies consent. Resources for additional support are shared.

A focus on building and maintaining the CSC community through empowering students to be alert to "red flags," and providing students the tools to help others by knowing resources and referring others to those resources.
