The Windy Hill Toddler Program offers quality care to youngsters ages 14 months to 36 months. Our warm and accepting environment supports children's development and individuality through a wide variety of exploratory activities and resources. Toddlers' sense of self is facilitated through opportunities to participate in group play, fantasy play, and independent activities. The program is well supplied with exciting, challenging, appropriate materials. As toddlers gain in confidence they learn how to use words to express feelings, how to use peers and teachers as resources, how to get what they need in appropriate ways, and how to act appropriately in different situations. There is continual experimentation with objects, language, and social interactions.
Three full-time toddler teachers are responsible for planning and implementing the daily activities. They all have degrees in early childhood education as well as many years of experience. They are assisted by students in the college's Child Development Program. As part of their on-going communication with parents/families, the teachers share daily information about each child's day at school. Teachers work cooperatively with families to ensure children are supported in the best possible ways. Conferences, progress reports, and open house events also enrich the relationship between school and home.
