The Windy Hill Nursery School provides enriching experiences for children ages three and four. Our child centered, project-based program supports children's development and individuality through a wide variety of activities, materials, and field trips. Projects are developed from the children's ideas and interests; teachers skillfully integrate topics that encourage exploration, self-awareness, reasoning, communication, thinking, and initiative. Although every year is different, the topics are always exciting and diverse, ranging from the outer reaches of the universe to what is growing under the play yard tree stumps.
Three full-time teachers are responsible for planning and implementing the on-going activities. They all hold degrees related to the teaching of young children and have considerable experience working in classroom settings. Students in the college's Child Development Program work alongside the teachers and contribute to the planning and integration of the long-term projects. Parents are also an integral part of the successful operation of the school, and are often called upon to participate in various activities and field trips. Teachers work cooperatively with families to ensure children are supported in the best possible ways. Conferences, progress reports, and open house events also enrich the relationship between school and home.
