Windcrossing Productions

Windcrossing Productions came to Colby-Sawyer in 1990 with the arrival of Professor Don Coonley, who had written a play and created a film by that name to record the story of Gustav Whitehead, a Connecticut flight enthusiast. Professor Coonley directed the Communication Studies program at Colby-Sawyer until his retirement in 2007. Coonley “touched the lives of thousands of students.”

In 2012 program faculty and alumni came together to honor his legacy with a rebirth of Windcrossing, dedicated to the creation of interdisciplinary film projects that invite our alumni to collaborate with current students and community members. Last year's films featured the creative talents of Mike Mooney '02 and Will Peters '06, founders of Hammer & Saw Films, who devoted countless hours to teaching and mentoring Colby-sawyer students.
