My work most recently has been inspired by what I see around my self every day. A mark of shape could spur an idea, no matter how small or insignificant it may be. I normally begin any new project by going to my sketchbook. This is where I jot down little shapes or symbol that I find inspiring in hopes to use them in the future. It could be something as complex as the look to a group of muscles at the beach, or as simple as a polka dot pattern.
Once my idea has been sparked I begin to create, sometimes I have a plan laid out and sometimes I don’t. I am constantly thinking about the project I have at hand shape, color, and line are the three elements that I focus on the most. Images will pop into my head most of the time until it’s all I can think about. This will become my finished idea, most of the time I feel a connection to the piece of work that is so strong I have a hard time walking away.
