For our faculty and staff, The Colby-Sawyer Experience revolves around the education of our students. Whether they teach in the classroom, on the playing fields, in studios or in offices, our faculty and staff revel in their vital roles and their relationships with students. They share the joys of working in a cohesive community with common goals. Just like our students, they are learning and growing every day.

Vice President of Enrollment Management

Posting Date: 07-22-2013
Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Job Summary:

Colby-Sawyer College is launching a national search for the position of Vice President of Enrollment Management. Reporting directly to the President and serving on the College's Senior Staff, the Vice President will oversee Admissions, Financial Aid, and Enrollment Marketing. The College has experienced strong and steady success in enrollment growth, with dramatic increases in the proportion of international and domestic diversity. Colby-Sawyer will launch distance learning options in the near future. The next Vice President will be instrumental in strategic and operational decisions to continue the College on a modest growth curve while maintaining control over the discount rate.

The College:

Founded in 1837, Colby-Sawyer is a comprehensive baccalaureate college that integrates the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation. The College enrolls approximately 1,350 students. In recent years, Colby-Sawyer has become a more diverse and inclusive learning community through a variety of new programs and initiatives. The college has increased enrollment of international students and established the Progressive Scholars program, a partnership that extends higher education opportunities to urban high school students. Other new programs provide internship opportunities in Washington, D.C., a field study abroad for Environmental Studies and Biology students, and expanded study abroad options.

The 200 acre campus is located in a spectacularly beautiful area of New Hampshire, the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region. New London is 90 minutes north of Boston, one hour south of the White Mountains, and 3.5 hours south of Montreal.

Thomas C. “Tom” Galligan Jr. joined Colby-Sawyer College as its eighth president in August 2006. He previously served as dean and professor of law at the University of Tennessee College of Law. President Galligan currently serves as co-chair of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society Civics Education Task Force and is a commissioner for the New Hampshire Post-Secondary Education Commission. He holds an A.B. from Stanford University, a J.D. from the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University) School of Law and a L.L. M. from the Columbia University Law School. Under President Galligan's leadership, Colby-Sawyer has continued its commitment to basing its core decisions on how students will benefit. Through college-wide collaboration and strategic planning, the college has experienced significant growth in enrollment, added new academic majors and minors, increased the size of the full-time faculty, and established the Colby-Sawyer College Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2010, following a successful matching-gift campaign, Colby-Sawyer constructed the new Windy Hill School, a LEED-certified laboratory school for the Early Childhood Education Program that offers preschool, kindergarten and after-school programs.

Colby-Sawyer seeks candidates for the Vice President of Enrollment Management position who:

  • can demonstrate successful achievement of short- and long-term enrollment and tuition revenue goals
  • can guide the development of recruitment and marketing strategies to fit target markets, and can identify new market development opportunities

  • are experienced with predictive modeling, financial aid leveraging, and short- and long-term goal setting
  • look forward to working in a highly collaborative campus culture
  • will be valuable partners with the academic administration and staff in the retention efforts of the College
