Community Service Club and
Thanksgiving Basket Drive
communityservice
Community service is a wonderful way for students to reach out to the community and make a difference during their college experience. The Harrington Center for Career Development and Community Service offers a wide variety of service opportunities that students are encouraged to participate in. Tarren Bailey, class of '06 and executive board member of the club, states, "I love seeing how happy people are when we do things for them. The experience is very rewarding." Among other things, the club is involved in Special Olympics, a whiffle ball tournament to support a child with Leukemia, and they plan to send a group of students to assist with the Katrina Relief Effort as an alternative spring break option. In addition, the club has sponsored a Thanksgiving Basket Drive to assist families in need during the holiday season. Many students, faculty, staff have participated to make the holidays more enjoyable for the community. Every student is encouraged to become involved in the Community Service Club to enhance their Colby-Sawyer College experience.

1)Interview Outfits
The holidays are the perfect opportunity to provide your student with an interview-appropriate outfit. Kathy Taylor, Director of Career Development at the Harrington Center, suggests the following:
Interview Attire for Men:
* A tailored suit
* A solid white, long-sleeve, 100% cotton dress shirt.
* A leather belt that matches the shoe color
Interview Attire for women:
*An A-line skirt and jacket in a conservative cut
*a blouse that is conservatively cut
*1"-2" heels with natural-color hoisery

Remind your son or daughter that an interview is their only opportunity to make a good first impression. Dressing tastefully and professionally is essential.
