I'd like to see GreenROUTES be a resource for those of us interested in exploring new ways of living sustainably.

Important Financial Aid Office Personnel Changes
There have been several personnel changes in the Financial Aid Office during the past month. Rick Ellis is now managing the financial aid function in his capacity as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Rick has worked with many of you through the admissions application. He is looking forward now to helping you navigate through the financial aid process.
Reporting to Rick is Amelia Ihlo in the role of financial aid counselor. Amelia is a recent graduate of Bentley College. In addition to her work in Financial Aid, Amelia has been traveling for the Admissions Office representing Colby-Sawyer College at college fairs.
Ted Craigie, whom many of you might have dealt with on financial aid, has re-joined Information Resources his first love. We thank Ted for his contribution to the Financial Aid office and wish him well in his new endeavor.
Julie McCrory has become part of our new Student Services in the Business Office. Together with Beth Renzulli, Assistant Director of Student Services, Julie will be handling loan processing and payments as part of her new role. All student loan processing and payments will be handled through Student Services. Having this function consolidated into the Business Office will streamline the processing of loans as well as other financial aid records.
FINANCIAL AID UPDATE:
As of 2006, we will not require families to complete an institutional application as a part of the financial aid application process. The only form needed to apply for financial aid is the Renewal FAFSA (or new FAFSA for first time applicants). The deadline for returning students is April 15th. If you have any questions, please contact the financial aid office at 1-800-272-1015. Both Rick and Amelia are eager to help.
Dean's List
Congratulations to the parents of Dean's List students! To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve a semester GPA of 3.50 or better. In the Fall '05 semester, 146 students qualified for this great achievement. It is wonderful to see that so many students are dedicated to academic excellence at Colby-Sawyer College!
Commencement Is Approaching!
This year senior commencement will take place on May 13. Now is the time to make reservations if you will need restaurant and lodging arrangements. Information on area resources can be found on the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce Web site or by calling them toll-free at (877) 526-6575.
Desert Communities
Lakes, streams, and deep forests surround Colby-Sawyer College. Our biomes on the East Coast are determined by several limiting factors (like cold winters) and the ecosystems here have adapted to those factors. There are places, however, that look very different, and field studies courses are ways to examine the differences.
Every other year, Colby-Sawyer College offers students the opportunity to take part in a field study course in the desert. The class meets once each week while learning about the desert environment and its pressures and challenges. The field trip portion of the class will take place in Arizona's Sonoran Desert from March 11 - 16th.
Campus Activities Survey
The Campus Activities Office is in the process of evaluating several of its programs and events. We are currently evaluating Family Weekend using surveys and focus groups. It is very important to us to receive feedback from some of the main participants of Family Weekend, the parents of our students. Please help us to evaluate this event by completing the Family Weekend Focus Group Survey. Thank you for your input.
Club Profile: Cross Cultural Club
Each month, the Parent and Family Relations Office will profile a different club or organization at Colby-Sawyer College to help parents become more familiar with the campus community. Feel free to encourage your student to become involved!
This month's featured organization is the Cross Cultural Club. The club consists of International and American students who are interested in meeting people from other cultures and learning from each other. Members host several dinners in homes off-campus, attend cultural events, and organize campus activities that expose students to other cultures. The club's biggest event is International Night in April. Meetings are held every Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the Lethbridge Lodge. If your student expresses interest in joining the Cross Cultural Club, s/he can contact Cindy Benson, International Student Advisor, at (603)-526-3719 for more information.
