NEW LONDON, N.H., March 8, 2006 – More than 100 students will exhibit their art work at the Colby-Sawyer College Fine and Performing Arts Department Annual Student Art Exhibition. The show will include such student work as ceramics, photography, graphic design, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

The exhibit is on display from March 30 through April 12 in the Marian Graves Mugar Art Gallery in the Sawyer Fine Arts Center. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on March 30, with an awards presentation taking place from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

The juried exhibition is open to any and all student artists on campus. The rules for the event are similar to those of a professional exhibit. Students must submit six pieces of work and mat and present their work in a professional manner. Faculty members serve as jurors for the show, which has grown significantly in recent years.

Exceptional art work is eligible for prizes. Among these include three scholarships: the Edith B. Long Memorial Scholarship; the Charlotte Cobb Stahl Memorial Scholarship,; and the Nancy Pierce Williams Scholarship. Many other prizes will be awarded, including gift certificates donated by area businesses and restaurants, as well as art supplies from local businesses and supporters.
