Colby-Sawyer Players Present the Comedy “Parlor Games”

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Ever wonder what people will say about you once you're gone? In “Parlor Games,” a two-act comedic farce written by James C. Wall and performed by Colby-Sawyer Players, one man intends to find out.

Two performances of “Parlor Games” will take place on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, at 8 p.m. in the Sawyer Fine Arts Center. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated. The public is invited and welcome to attend.

Director Charles Moak '12 takes the reins in this tale about a practical joker named Mort McNulty, played by Andrew Francis '11, who hosts his own wake so that he can hear what people will say about him after he's dead, before he's dead. Mort's wife, Tricia, played by Margaret McCarthy '10, is unwillingly drawn into the action and apologetically tries to convince everyone that Mort is playing another joke.

A variety of visitors arrive -- some there on purpose, some not -- who eventually, with the right amount of suggestion and imagination, convince themselves that Mort is dead and Tricia is in denial. How it ends will certainly be a surprise for everyone.

The Colby-Sawyer Players is a student organization that provides opportunities for students to be involved with theatrical productions. The group offers the campus community a small-scale theatrical production each year and encourages students who appreciate the performing arts to promote theatre appreciation across campus.
