Colby-Sawyer College Offers Online Certificate Programs in Leadership and Human Resource Management
Colby-Sawyer College will launch two online certificate programs in January 2014. The one-year Human Resource Management and Leadership certificate programs can be completed 100 percent online. Colby-Sawyer College is accredited by New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
The online certificate programs are available to professionals in the field, to students in community colleges, and to those already working toward an associate's or bachelor's degree as well as to interested members of the public. Each program consists of five courses for a total of 16 college credits. Each course is eight weeks long and delivered completely online. A high school diploma or GED is the prerequisite for acceptance into both programs. Financial aid is available and applications are available now at www.colby-sawyer.edu/online.
The Certificate in Human Resource Management builds or enhances knowledge of current HR practices, industrial, social, regulatory and technical issues in today's challenging and changing business environment. Students focus on mastering management and motivation strategies that lead to success in an increasingly diverse workforce. Students in the program acquire the knowledge and skills required to obtain an entry level generalist position in human resource fields. Students expand their experience to obtain a more specialized position within the field, and build supervisory skills for an entry or mid-level management position within any area of an organization. The courses in this program have been approved by the HR Certification Institute.
Students in the Certificate in Leadership program improve workplace skills in group dynamics, communication, management theories, conflict resolution, and external and internal structures and requirements. Students increase knowledge and skills that are necessary to obtain an entry level supervisory or managerial position in any industry or profession, as well as expand experience and build leadership skills for increased responsibility or promotion.
Students in these online programs will engage with faculty and classmates through best practice online standards to achieve the programs' outcomes. Students will have 24/7 access to online class materials, online discussions and assignments from any location with an Internet connection.
Within the next year, Colby-Sawyer College will offer additional online certificate and degree programs, including certification in Coaching, and bachelor's degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, and Health Care Management. These will be followed by a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science.
