NEW LONDON, N.H., April 21, 2006 — Explorations into mind/body arts and Internet blogs, Facebook/Myspace, will be among the videos highlighted at the upcoming Colby-Sawyer College Festival of Lights. The festival is an exhibition of video projects created by students in the Communication Studies Program. The event will feature “Colby-Sawyer Insights,” an annual video news magazine, and senior Capstone projects.

The Festival of Lights will be held on Monday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at Wheeler Hall in the Ware Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

“Colby-Sawyer Insights,” a video news magazine produced by Professor Don Coonley's Video I class, will feature “History of the New London Inn,” by Brendan O'Neill and Anne Walsh; “Mind/Body Arts,” by Kelsey Schieren and Jordan O'Connor; “Facebook/Myspace,” by Sara Berg and Andrew Baker; “Metrosexuals at Colby-Sawyer,” by Kristin McDonald and Patrick Kenny; “Gambling on Campus,” by Jennifer Corneau and Steve Hansen; and “Lack of Cultural Diversity on Campus,” by Tiamo Wright and Devin Sikorski.

Seniors in the Communication Studies Program are required to design and produce a semester-long Capstone project that serves the needs of a campus or community service-oriented organization, and which, upon completion, will be made available to the service group for which it was made.

This semester's Capstones include Katie Srednicki presenting her promotional video for the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust organization of New London; a training video for the Walker Home and School in Needham, Mass., by Tim Carleton; Tim Harrow's promotional video for the Icehouse Museum of New London; a series of eight studio television shows focusing on academic departments at Colby-Sawyer by Nicole Eaton; and Will Peters' promotional video for UpReach Therapeutic Riding Center of Goffstown.
