Colby-Sawyer College to Host Annual International Festival

NEW LONDON, N.H., March 16, 2012 - Colby-Sawyer College will host the annual International Festival in celebration of its culturally diverse population. The festival will include sampling of ethnic foods, an international fashion show with traditional clothing and a talent show.

Sponsored by the Cross Cultural Club, the 2012 International Festival will be held in Wheeler Hall at the Ware Campus Center on Thursday, April 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The festival will kick off at 5 p.m., when students representing more than 25 countries will be available to discuss their culture and showcase their traditions as attendees circulate amongst table displays and multicultural food samples, followed by a half-hour fashion show at 6:30 p.m. The fashion show will display traditional clothing from around the world. At 7 p.m., there will be a special presentation in honor of the local Friendship Families to thank them for their involvement with the college's international students. The Friendship Family program and all those who take part have been named winners of the Town Award, which will be presented at the 2012 Commencement ceremony. Tom Galligan, International Student Services staff and students will give brief speeches. The remainder of the festival will consist of the second annual talent show, starting at 7:30 p.m. and culminating with the presentation of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes.
