CSC Singers Present Spring Concert 'Totally American Music'
The Colby-Sawyer Singers will present Totally American Music for its annual spring concert. The singing ensemble, comprised of Colby-Sawyer students and community members, will take the audience on a journey through American music that begins with the Civil War era and ends with a flashy Michael Jackson medley.
The show will take place Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theatre. Tickets are $5 general admission and free with a Colby-Sawyer ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at www.colby-sawyer.universitytickets.com. The box office can be reached at (603) 526-3670 for more information.
The CSC Singers are under the creative direction of Jean Liepold, adjunct faculty in the Fine and Performing Arts Department, and accompanied on the piano by adjunct instructor Dave Chaves. Students Danielle Duhaime '16 and Serene Chau '15 will perform solos, and special guest Thomas C. Galligan Jr., president of Colby-Sawyer College, will narrate the performance, tying together the songs of America to tell the story of its history.
Totally American Music will feature anthems, ballads and hymns from the mid-19th century, including Stephen Foster's Ring, Ring the Banjo and Down to the River to Pray, then zoom through time to Peter, Paul and Mary's I Dig Rock and Roll Music and the country classic Sweet Home Alabama. The female singers will perform a colorful a cappella version of That's a Ragtime Song, and the concert will conclude with a medley of Michael Jackson's pop hits, including Rock with You and Thriller before ending with We Are the World.
