Colby-Sawyer College Hosts 'UFOs: The Secret Story,' a Multimedia Presentation by UFO Researcher Robert Hastings Based on Newly Declassified Documents

Colby-Sawyer College will host a multimedia presentation, “UFOs: The Secret Story,” by researcher Robert Hastings, based on thousands of Air Force, FBI and CIA documents recently declassified under the Freedom of Information Act, and his interviews with more than 120 former and retired military personnel.

“UFOs: The Secret Story” will be presented on April 14, at 7 p.m. in Wheeler Hall at the Ware Campus Center. The event, sponsored by the Cultural Events Committee, is free and open to the public.

Hastings, who has presented his story at more than 500 colleges since 1981, wants people to know what he believes the federal government has been hiding for decades. The once-classified information includes a 1947 analysis from Air Force General Nathan F. Twining to the Pentagon concluding that UFOs are real; a 1975 series of Defense Department documents reporting a number of sightings; and a 1950 memorandum stating the Air Force has recovered crashed “flying saucers” and their contents in New Mexico.

Born on a military base in Albuquerque, N.M., Hastings grew up near the construction of atomic weapons. His family later moved to a base in Montana, during the peak of reported UFO sightings in that area. Hastings claims to have seen five UFOs being tracked via radar by the base's air traffic controllers. These incidents sparked his lifelong research into the UFO-nuclear connection.

Hastings received a BFA in photography at Ohio University and retrained in electron microscopy at San Joaquin Delta College, receiving a certificate in materials science applications in 1988. Before retiring in 2002, he was a laboratory analyst at Philips Semiconductors in Albuquerque.
