Colby-Sawyer Student Victoria Hersey Presents 'Love and Lettuce,' A Surprising Story of Love and Suspicion

“Love and Lettuce,” a video/theater production about love, suspicion and surprise, will be presented by Colby-Sawyer media studies student and writer/director Victoria Hersey, along with a cast and crew of students and members of Sunapee Kearsarge Intercommunity Theater (SKIT).

“Love and Lettuce” will be performed on Tuesday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in Whipple Town Hall in New London. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted and applied to the Sunapee Kearsarge Intercommunity Theater Scholarship (SKIT) fund.

Hersey has directed other full-length and one-act plays at Colby-Sawyer through her involvement with the CSC Players Theater Club.

For her senior Capstone Project, she sought to combine her major with a new passion she discovered at the college. “This project wouldn't have been possible without all the resources and people I've come to know during my four years,” Hersey says. “I planned this project so that I could focus on practicing what I've been studying, film/video, and also continue working with an art form—theater—that I fell in love with when I got to Colby-Sawyer!”

The cast includes Katie Arsenault, who plays Renee, a school teacher who has been married to Dale (Aaron Hodge) for ten years. All seems to be going well until Dale becomes suspicious of his wife. Dale's parents-in-law, George (Charley Freiberg) and Tammy (Bonnie Lewis), his co-worker Dennis (Biplob Gauli) and Dennis' son (Daniel Moir), and even the waitress (Erin Bennett), know what's going on, and yet Dale does not.

One of Tammy's lines sums up the essence of the production when she says: “Bring your love and let us do the rest.” Community members should bring their love of theater and video and let this original production surprise and charm them.
