Colby-Sawyer College and the Lake Sunapee Regional Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor the 15th Annual Chocolate Fest, featuring some of the area's most delectable chocolate desserts.

The celebration of sweets will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 from noon to 3 p.m., in Wheeler Hall at the Ware Campus Center at Colby-Sawyer College. Tickets for this event are $10 per person and free for children ages 5 and under.

Chocolate samples will be provided by 13 chocolatiers, including The Inn at Pleasant Lake, the Colonial Farm Inn, New London Confections, and Rockwell's at the Inn, all of New London; Van Otis Chocolates (Manchester) with Artisan's (New London); Blue Acorn Inn (Sunapee); Laura Powers Catering (Andover); The Mill Fudge Factory (Bristol); and Rocky Cannoli's Bakery at Red Barn Farm in Newport. New to the Chocolate Fest this year are Brick Farm Ice Cream (Unity); Hanover Inn at Dartmouth College (Hanover); the Kearsarge Cooperative Grocer (New London and Concord); and Sweet Treat Greetings (Northfield).

Peoples' Choice Awards will be made in the categories of Best Chocolate and Best Display, and a panel of judges will render their choices as well. This year the panel includes Laura Jean Whitcomb, editor/owner of Kearsage Magazine and co-owner of Upper Valley Life Magazine, Darron Libby, editor of New Hampshire ToDo Magazine, and Tom Payne of King Arthur Flour in Norwich, Vt.

Last year nearly 600 people attended, so participants may wish to consider pre-purchasing tickets for $10 through the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce by calling (603) 526-6575 or (877) 526-6575. Tickets will also be sold at the door as long as chocolate samples last. For more information about this event, e-mail the Chamber at chamberinfo@tds.net.
