Colby-Sawyer College Presents its Spring Video Showcase

NEW LONDON, N.H., April 21, 2008 – The Colby-Sawyer College Communication Studies Program will present its Spring Video Showcase, a biannual exhibition of student video productions, on Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theater. The event is free and the community is welcome to attend.

“This is an exciting time of the year, with a talented and diverse group of Video 1 and seniors preparing to screen a sampling of work that reflects a remarkable range of experience and interests,” said David Reed, assistant professor in the Communication Studies Program, part of Colby-Sawyer's Humanities Department, and event coordinator.

Among the offerings on view at the Spring Video Showcase will be documentaries on search and rescue dogs; children's programs at the Audubon Society, an insider's perspective on dormitory life, and another on baseball at Colby-Sawyer.

“Students are also exploring narrative and advertising as well as experimental genres, and they will screen a variety of approaches to the medium, from an abstract and poetic video on drums to a light-hearted look at the trials and tribulations of cell phone communication,” said Professor Reed.
