Colby-Sawyer College Hosts Discussion of Solar Energy for Homes, Businesses as Part of Sustainable Living Series
NEW LONDON, N.H., Feb. 13, 2013 - Colby-Sawyer College's Environmental Science and Environmental Studies third-year students will host “Solarize Your Community: A Presentation by ReVision Energy.” The event is the latest installment of the college's Sustainable Living Series, a cooperative, community-based research project to help build the infrastructure for a Transition Town initiative in the Kearsarge Valley.
Focusing on the role of solar energy in a sustainable community, the presentation will be held Saturday, Feb 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Clements Hall in the Curtis L. Ivey Science Center. There is no cost to attend the presentation and it is open to the public.
ReVision Energy's New Hampshire Sales Manager Stephen Condon will educate consumers about the cost-effective benefits of solar systems for homes and businesses, which include: group discount information, the return of investment on solar systems, and the benefits to the environment through reduced CO2 emissions. Attendees will be able to ask questions and view Colby-Sawyer's on-campus solar photovoltaic system.
Condon developed his passion for the environment during his youth in California, where he grew up in a solar-powered home built by his father. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, Condon spent five years building homes in Northern California. Since returning to New Hampshire in 2008, his main interest has been to reduce Northern New England's dependence on fossil energy with the use of active solar energy systems. Condon is an active board member on the Seacoast Renewable Energy Initiative (SEAREI) and is converting his home to solar energy systems, with plans to eliminate his use of fossil fuels.
