Colby-Sawyer Singers to Perform Holiday Concert

NEW LONDON, N.H. — The Colby-Sawyer Fine and Performing Arts Department will present its holiday concert with the Colby-Sawyer Singers.

The concert will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer Center Theatre. Admission is free, and community members are welcome to attend.

The theme of this year's concert is Holiday Sensations. All of the songs will focus on what people see, hear, taste, touch and smell during the holiday season. The concert will feature a cappella songs, contemporary and traditional pieces, and some solo performances. The group of 40 Colby-Sawyer College and New London-area community members will be joined by the Kearsarge Regional High School band for two of the songs.

Director Susan Cancio-Bello has a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in counseling, both from Appalachian State University. She also has a Music Therapy Certification from the University of Miami. Prior to her work with the Colby-Sawyer Singers, Cancio-Bello volunteered at local schools and libraries, organized the New Hampshire Troubadours, and participated in the vocal group Folk Fusion.

The emcee for the concert will be Nancy Barry, artistic managing director of the Barn Playhouse for the last three years. Pianist Jean Liepold will accompany the singers.
