Colby-Sawyer College Presents Spring Theater Production Orlando

Colby-Sawyer College's Fine and Performing Arts Department presents “Orlando,” a play based on the novel by Virginia Woolf, on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at the Sawyer Fine Arts Center. Seating is on-stage and tickets can be reserved at www.colby-sawyer.edu/tickets. Cost is $10 for the general public and free with a Colby-Sawyer ID.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Sarah Ruhl, and directed by Assistant Professor of Fine and Performing Arts Suzanne Delle, the play follows the adventures of “Orlando,” a young man in Queen Elizabeth's court in the 1500s who transforms into a 20th-century woman navigating the modern world. The cast is comprised of 10 student-actors and stars Katelynn Yvon '15 as Orlando. The many love interests include Shelby Lynn Thomas '17 as Sasha, a Russian princess; Aaron Michael Hodge '14 as the Archduchess; and Christian Coffman '15 as Marmaduke.

Playwright Ruhl is known for her production In the Next Room, a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 2010 Tony Award nominee for Best Play, Best Featured Actress, and Best Costume. Her other works include The Clean House (2005 Pulitzer Prize Finalist), Dead Man's Cell Phone, Eurydice and Stage Kiss.
