My Colby-Sawyer Experience

“Your work... is to resist the easy answer, to seek out the truth... just as the author's work is to face the blank page with faith and optimism.”

The Portrayal of Black

I am alone in black.

The ink of my soul spit onto paper,
the color of carbon and coal.

A Raven at midnight calling my name,
my demise on the sphere.

A Dismal event about to contort itself into ecstasy,
so depressing as to end all hope.

A small bleak slight of color emerging,
the pigment smothered by fire in the dark.

Infinite evil surrounds the idea,
for secrecy and dishonor emerge.

Black is the absence of all color,
light and hope in the world.
