Colby-Sawyer College has a number of vacations during the school year. During some of these, the college halls remain open, and students can stay on campus. Other times, the college halls are closed, and students must find other places to stay. Click here for the 2010-2011 Academic Calendar.
Following is the travel information for the 2010-2011 school year.
Fall Recess, (no classes) October 17, 18
The residence halls remain open during fall recess.
Thanksgiving Recess, November 23-28
The residence halls close. Students must be out of their rooms by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23. Students may ask for permission to remain in their rooms until 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 24. Students may return to their rooms after 9 a.m., Sunday, November 28.
End of Fall Semester, December 16
Residence halls will close on December 16. Students must be out of their rooms by 7 p.m. on December 16 or within 24 hours of their last final. Students may not return to their rooms until 9 a.m., Monday, January 3.
Between Semesters, January 3-16
The residence halls are open only to students who have permission to return to campus for a specific purpose.
Beginning of Spring Semester, January 17
The residence halls are open to all students. All students may return to their rooms at 9 a.m., Monday, January 17. Classes begin Tuesday, January 18.
Winter Recess, February 21
The residence halls remain open during winter recess.
Spring Break, March 5-13
The residence halls are open only to students who have permission to remain. The halls close to all other students at 7 p.m., Friday, March 5. The halls will reopen at 9 a.m., Sunday, March 13, to all students.
End of Spring Semester
The residence halls close at 7 p.m., Monday, May 2, or within 24 hours of students last final exam. Students who have permission may remain on campus until 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 3. Seniors may remain on campus until 7 p.m., Saturday, May 7.
