I'm a firm believer in getting students out of the classroom and into experiences in nature. If students get out of their element, in a new place that stimulates their senses, that's where the best learning happens.

Information Resources publishes instructions for connecting student computers to our network and for installing college-provided software. These instructions are available on our website and, where applicable, distributed to Resident Advisors and Directors on paper.
We do support:
• Connection and troubleshooting of your dorm room Ethernet port.
• Installation of Microsoft Office Professional
• Installation of NOD32 Antivirus System
• Installation of Spy Sweeper anti-spyware/adware software
• Access to college course-related software such as Blackboard on college-owned computers
• Access to Colby-Sawyer College’s required email, in order to send and receive communications relevant to academic and administrative issues.
We do not support:
Computer Hardware:
• Any hardware issues on your system, such as printers, scanners, drives, video, sound, etc.
Computer Software:
• Software issues not related to college distributed software (as listed above).
• Operating system failures.
• Problems or crashes caused by viruses or "junkware" that may have been installed from the internet.
• Personal applications such as instant messaging software, fax applications, digital camera imaging software, etc.
We do not permit:
• Specialized hardware such as wireless hubs, access points, switches, etc.
• Any hardware or software which may compromise the college network.
• Network access by anyone other than Colby-Sawyer College users.
• Sharing of user account information.
Recommendations:
Students are responsible for the health of their computer systems. This includes:
• maintaining manufacturer’s service warranty agreements.
• keeping antivirus software up-to-date.
• maintaining operating system updates and patches.
• refraining from downloading and installing questionable software.
