My Colby-Sawyer Experience

“Your work... is to resist the easy answer, to seek out the truth... just as the author's work is to face the blank page with faith and optimism.”
Humanities Instructor David Elliott

Technology Services Provided To Students

Network Accounts
All students are assigned a network and email account for the duration of their attendance at Colby-Sawyer College. These accounts are free of charge. Do not share your username and password with anyone. Students are expected to be familiar with, and apply student handbook guidelines as they apply to computer usage.

Special Campus License Agreements
Colby-Sawyer College has purchased campus license agreements from Microsoft, Eset (NOD32 Antivirus System). These licenses give the College the right to provide a full copy of the Microsoft Office Professional Suite of products, NOD32 Antivirus System to every student.

Support for Network Access from Residence Halls
All residence halls are connected to the campus Ethernet network. If you have a network card in your Intel based computer we have network configuration instructions for your computer available. See the "Instructions for joining the COLBYS domain" section and click on the link for your version of Windows.

Computer Labs
All students have free use of the computer labs. The two labs are located in Colgate Hall and the Susan Colgate Cleveland Library/Learning Center. Both labs are equipped with a high-speed laser printer and are staffed by student monitors. Lab computers have full access to the campus network, the Internet, and email. The lab computers have a desktop shortcut to CSC email web access, a web-based version of your college email account.

Support for Student-Owned Computers- (Student PC support in detail)
Information Resources staff can assist students with configuring their network connections from the residence halls. Students are responsible for keeping their computers up to date and free of viruses and other threats.

There is a remote access "gateway" available for students who live off-campus if they have an Internet service provider. Click the link for more information: Off-Campus Access instructions.

The College does not provide hardware service for student-owned computers so we encourage students to keep current with support contracts offered by their hardware vendor.

The College requires students to take CIS105, which is an introduction to information technology course. This is a great first semester course for anyone that needs help in finding his or her way around a PC and the campus network.
