Windows 95/98/ME Network Configuration
Due to security requirements, network connection for Windows 95, 98, and ME will no longer be provided after the end of the 2005-2006 academic year.
For the Spring 2006 semester, users of these older Windows systems will need to contact Information Resources for certification assistance.
The information provided below may be of help to users having connection problems with their already certified Windows 98 or ME computer.
Connect your network card to the walljack with an ethernet cable.
(If you need a network (ethernet) cable you can get one from the book store.)
Right click on Network Neighborhood or My Network Places Icon
Choose Properties
Access Control Tab:
Choose user-level access control
Type COLBYS (all capitals)
If you get the message: set-up anyway? Click Yes and choose NT Domain
If your computer is running W98SE or ME and does not recognize the user-level access you can leave it on shared level access.
