TRUNCATION/WILDCARD KEYWORD SEARCHES

The truncation/wildcard symbol is the * asterisk. Truncating keyword searches are helpful when you are unsure of the spelling of a word or if you are interested in searching for various spellings of an item.

Inserting an asterisk at the end of a word will force the system to search for various forms of the word.

Example:
Typing “crea*” will search for words such as "creative", "creativity", "creator", and "creation".

An asterisk placed in the middle of the word will retrieve alternate forms of a word.

Example:
Typing “wom*n” will retrieve records containing words such as "woman" or "women".
