library learning space

Statement of purpose

The exhibit panels next to the Access Services Desk on the ground floor of the library are primarily intended to display work by and about Colby-Sawyer College students and alumni. The underlying principle of the exhibit space is to highlight “What you can do with a Colby-Sawyer College education” and to showcase the work of current students as well as the accomplishments of alumni.

Spaces and specifications

  • The exhibit space consists of three panels, two are 3 feet wide by 5 feet tall and one is two feet wide by five feet tall. They are joined in a zigzag pattern.

  • Panels are cloth covered and slightly padded so items will need to be affixed with push pins or tape.

  • Exhibits will be displayed for a period of 2 – 4 weeks depending on the demand for the space, the academic year schedule and other factors.

Rules of use

  • The Library reserves the right to deny or modify an exhibit application. Displays that are in questionable taste as defined by library staff may need to be modified.

  • The Library may extend or curtail the duration of an exhibit at its discretion.

  • Scheduling the use of the space is available on a first come, first served basis although efforts will be made to balance the exhibits between current student work and alumni contributions. Specific time periods may be reserved in advance by contacting Carrie Thomas at x3686 or cathomas@colby-sawyer.edu. Application forms are available at the reference desk and on the library web page.

  • Responsibility for the installation and removal of displays rests with the individual or group.

Liability

  • The Library does not assume responsibility for exhibit materials and shall not be held liable for the loss, theft or damage of them.

  • The exhibit panels must be left in satisfactory condition. Exhibitors may be held liable for damage resulting from their usage of the exhibit area.
