A love of wisdom – and the pursuit of knowledge and purpose that leads to civic engagement – has endured since ancient times in the study of the humanities. At Colby-Sawyer the humanities are woven into the curriculum as an integral part of a comprehensive liberal arts education.

The humanities demand an answer to the eternal question, “What does it mean to be human?” Exercising their intellect and imagination, students explore these and other essential paths of inquiry, while strengthening their means of expression and discovering their potential.
