Purple stemmed-Aster Aster puniceus
Composite or Daisy Compositae family
Leaves are lance shaped, toothed and clasp the stem at the base. Bristly purplish stem.
The flowers are pale-violet to lilac, heads 1-1.5" wide.
Form/habitat: Swamps and wet thickets, 2-7' high. Flowers Aug.-Nov.
