175th Celebration

Agave deserti
Agavaceae

Leaves: 14" long. They are dark green, long and pointed with toothed margins. They are clustered at the end of branches.

Flowers/Fruit: In bloom May to July. The flower is yellow, small and clustered broadly at the top of a 5' to 15' stalk. The stalk grows rapidly at 2 1/2" a day. Several weeks after the first blooms, the plant dies.

Form/Habitat: Found from southern California to western Arizona.
