Height: Up to 20' but common at 6'.
Trunk: 8" wide, brown and furrowed.
Leaves: 3" long and green. They are bipinnatley compounded.
Flowers/Fruit: In bloom June to October. The flowers are yellow and 2 1/2" long. They are densely clustered and form a cylindrical spike. The seed pod is flat, twisted and 6" long and 1/2" wide.
Form/Habitat: Below 5,000'. Found on slopes, canyons, grasslands and along washes.
