Leaves: Somewhat hairy, "fuzzy" leaves. Oblong and greyish-green, 1/2" to 2 1/2" in length.
Flowers: Are purplish, rarely white, usually appearing before leaves.
Fruits: Fruit pods are swollen and green and approximately a half an inch long, turning brown in the fall. They stay on all winter.
Form/Habitat: Found in bogs and wet slopes.
