Caroling into the season CSC style
Bringing holiday cheer to Colby-Sawyer is the CSC Singers as the chorus carols songs of the season Dec. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
The Sawyer Center will be filled with harmonious sound; voices melodic enough to send the audience chills.
Jean Liepold, chorus instructor, expects the audience to experience “a joyous, uplifting feeling, as well as the spirit of Christmas.” Liepold hopes that many will feel these joyous emotions during the concert.
Even at the rehearsal, the energy radiating off of the singers was extremely powerful. The audience can expect a very passionate show, with singers’ voice range magnificent and their sound magnifying. Chorus members were dancing along to the upbeat music, as well as swaying along to the soft tunes.
Melinda Nystrand, junior and chorus singer, is very excited for the upcoming show. “One of the best parts about the Christmas Concert is that there is a wide variety of songs. Some of the songs are slow, while others are joyous and upbeat. I’m sure the audience will enjoy them as much as we do.”
Some selected songs are “Spirit of the Season,” “Chestnuts Roasting,” “O Holy Night,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Holiday Lane.” Some of these songs are very upbeat and cheerful, while others are soft and serene. The singers’ voices range, with a mix of both alto and soprano. This allows for a variety of songs, but those chosen for this show emphasize the singer’s strengths of voice. Regardless of which song the chorus sings, their presence is strong and captivating.
Nystrand hopes the audience will, “Experience a night of good music. I hope those who attend listen to our music and feel the Christmas spirit in their hearts.”
