Summer Housing 2014

This page provided information about summer housing on campus, including both logistical information, such as availability, eligibility, and cost, as well as the terms and conditions students must abide by in order to participate in summer housing.


Summer Housing available Friday, May 16, 2014 – Friday, August 15, 2014 for full summer rental, monthly, weekly, or daily rental. Summer residents are eligible to request Temporary Housing between the end of finals and the start of summer housing with the following understanding:

  • Summer housing contract must be submitted and arrangements made for payment;
  • Students may be asked to move to a different room to accommodate the needs of the college during this time;
  • Students must sign a Temporary Housing contract, which includes no guests and no alcohol (regardless of age);
  • Violations of the Temporary Housing contract and/or Code of Community Responsibility may result in immediate removal from campus housing during this period and/or make the student ineligible for temporary or summer housing;
  • There is no charge to students who are approved to be on campus during this period (May 6 at 10:00am through May 16 at 5:00pm);
  • This temporary housing is ONLY available to students who are currently living on campus for the Spring semester.


Please visit the Student page on the myColby-Sawyer portal to find a link to the online registration form for Summer Housing. It will be listed under "Announcements." Once your registration form has been processed by a staff member, you will receive an email confirmation which will include your housing assignment and instructions for submitting your payment on the Colby-Sawyer Storefront.


$100 per week (seven consecutive days) and/or $25 per day

  • Payment may be made on the College Storefront by following the directions provided on your sign-up/registration form.
  • Arrangements for summer rental payment must be made prior to occupancy. There are no partial refunds should the student leave before the end of the agreed upon rental period.
  • Meals are NOT included.


Summer housing is available for current students who are enrolled as Colby-Sawyer students for the 2014–2015 academic year or graduates of the class of 2014.

  • Preference will be given to students who:
    • Are registered for Colby-Sawyer summer credits; or
    • Are employed by the college or a college-related employer for the summer; or
    • Hold a summer internship through the college.
  • Housing will be available to eligible students who are working in the area for the summer on a space available basis;
  • Students must submit any requests for Summer Housing within three business days of occupancy.


  • Nursing students will be placed in the duplexes on Cottage Lane;
  • All other summer residents will be placed in Page and/or Colby Hall;
  • All summer residents will be placed in single occupancy assignments;
  • Check-in is between 9:00pm – 5:00pm on Monday – Friday in the Residential Education office located on the 1st floor of the Ware Student Center. (Evening/weekend arrival by arrangement)
  • Check-out is by 5:00pm. Keys/Access Cards may be left with Residential Education Staff or Campus Safety.

  1. Placement for summer housing will be based on the following criteria:
    • Housing start date(s) and housing end date(s);
    • Availability of space;
    • Age;
    • Gender;
    • Summer program (student, employee, intern)

  2. Upon verification of financial clearance, you will receive your housing assignment.
  3. During the summer months, the college hosts a number of outside events and guests. Upon registering for summer housing, you will receive more information about the guidelines and schedules for use of campus resources.
    • Hogan Sports Center will be available during posted hours after Monday, May 26;
    • Sodexo dining will be available for students to purchase meals from 11:30 to noon, Monday through Thursday on weeks they are open.
  4. Staffing
    • Three students will be hired to serve as Summer Housing Assistants (SHA) and will report directly to the Assistant Director and/or the Area Coordinator:
      • Duties of the SHA will include assistance with the coordination of the summer housing process and to serve as a liaison between the college and summer residents;
      • SHAs will take on-call shifts throughout the summer;
      • The SHA may, but is not required to, hold another position on campus during the summer;
      • Position dates are Sunday, May 11 – Wednesday, August 27 (with arrangements for regular time off)
      • A single room will serve as compensation;
      • Experience as a Resident Assistant is strongly preferred.
