“I used a lot of the research and writing techniques I learned in my philosophy and media studies classes. Now that I know I can do something as large as this project, I have a new sense of confidence.”
Andrew Baker, Communication Studies
My name is Magbè Savané, junior student at Colby-Sawyer College. As a commuter since the 2006-2007 year, I noticed some challenges students can face during the school year. To make the transition of being a commuter student easier, I decided to initiate the Commuter Club, a club entirely devoted to non-resident students.
For the people who live on Colby-Sawyer's campus, the campus activities and social events are right at their fingertips and only a few strides away from the residence halls. One of the goals of the Commuter Club is to raise awareness so that commuter students are better able to fully participate in campus events.
The club was founded for non-resident students to feel a sense of belonging at Colby-Sawyer College. With over 11 percent of Colby-Sawyer's students commuting each day, the Commuter Club plays a major part in Colby-Sawyer's community.
