As a student at Colby-Sawyer College, you are considered by New Hampshire to be citizen here and therefore eligible to vote here.
By registering to vote in New London, you are declaring yourself a resident of New London and would no longer be eligible to vote in your home elections. ADDITIONALLY, if you receive state financial aid from a state other than New Hampshire, registering to vote here may impact your financial aid. To find out if this would affect you, contact the financial aid office.
To vote in New Hampshire, simply go to the Town Clerk's office and present proof of identification. If you wish to register to vote in New London, the Town Clerk's office is in the old Academy Building on Main Street; you may present your Colby-Sawyer College ID card as proof of residency.
Directions to the New London Town Office from Colby-Sawyer College:
From the front of Colgate Hall on Main Street, go right towards Pizza Chef. Walk, or drive, approximately ¼ mile to the town green and the old Academy Building. This is the New London Town Office. As you face the Academy Building, the two entrances are on either side of the front façade.
You will want to call your local town clerk's office for instructions about where and when you can register to vote.
Contact your town clerk's office for information about receiving an absentee ballot. If you wish to vote by absentee ballot you need to plan ahead. Most states require that you request your absentee ballot at least 30 days ahead of time.
