My Colby-Sawyer Experience

“We are used to working with sick patients in the hospital setting, so it was nice to see the other end of the spectrum and be able to raise awareness among the students.”
Sandra Guglielmi, Nursing major

Face It is a research based prevention tool. This non-judgmental approach to alcohol prevention centers on providing participants the information they need to make healthy, low-risk alcohol choices and apply their knowledge to case studies and role plays.

The program is based on these learning objectives:

  1. Participants will identify how many ounces of alcohol an average person can process per hour and physical elements that can influence how the body metabolizes alcohol.

  2. Participants will learn the college's definition of and response to alcohol intoxication.

  3. Participants will identify risks associated with intoxication – physical, emotional, social.

  4. Participants will learn the definition of “binge drinking.”

  5. Participants will, through individual and group activities, explore, discuss, and share practices and strategies to make low risk choices regarding alcohol use.
